I reckon john will win too, but Fewkes does hold a good W over Craig Watson current WELTER commonwealth champ! This fight is almost a stone lighter at lightweight!

elle i dont know if you already aware that fewkes record is 15/16-0 hes still a novice, and as for him fighting gary reid, theres a key difference between this journeyman and the featherweight murray beat, reid is a tough fighter his record make no look sparkling but he has some good wins over decent opponents(including a KO over dean hickman) and hes mixed it in and lost to good fighters furthermore hes heavy handed and fights at the same weight class as fewkes, so it was a nice test for fewkes. if murray is to impress me he'd have to knock fewkes out, i'm not really looking foward to this fight as it would probrably involve alot of cliniching and wrestling.
i'm sorry for getting your name muddled i was kind of jet lagged when i wrote the post.

Ya I remember that but Craig has improved a lot of late and the man that took the title from Nuumbembe wasn't the same man that lost to Fewkes .

Yes Faisal I am aware of Fewkes record - as I said in a previous post I am a fan of both fighters.

I agree Gary Reid was a good test for Fewkes but one he only just came through in my honest opinion - he did just about enough.

I really feel there are some double standards here though as although you admit Reid's record is less than sparkling (W13 L18 D1 - lost 3 of last 4 fights) you pick out a win over Dean Hickman as a decent opponent - but no praise for Murray who stopped Hickman quicker and is in a weight division lower than him.

As for the mexican Murray fought in the States - it has already been pointed out by someone else that these guys are much tougher and awkward than our own journeymen. Sorry to keep labouring the point but this was also Murray's second fight in just 28 days!

I think both Fewkes and Murray are real talents and if any other lightweights were facing them would be seen as very credible opponents so this will be an excellent win for one of them.

Apology accepted about the name (again)!

Apparently Hennessy have won the purse bids for this fight - will take place on 18th April at the Nottingham Arena.

It could be a real ******* and I like the look of Fewkes. I've been to a couple of his fights and he always looks so comfortable but still Murray would be my bet to win. Murrays better power will tell.
