Who takes this battle of the 147lb Brits? I say that John H outboxes a game Ricky over the distance by scoring a clear decision.
Good one this. Stracey was a terrible slow starter whereas Ricky liked to get to work early as he knew that's when he was at his best. Strace is going to struggle here as he was a front foot counter puncher. A very high risk style. Green fouled John to death early in their fight so that, when Strace came on strong, he was already badly injured. I back Hatton to do the same. Shame though.
Hi Buddy. Neat layout of how the fight could have progressed, I rather fancy a Stracey win though, the pre Palomino fighter was a purposeful walk forward puncher, he looked quite strong at the weight, and I believe he would have caught and hurt Hatton with frequency, looking like a late KO or stoppage assuming a 15 rounder, staying at 147 I would bet on Jones to beat them all, including Green, Charles, and Honeyghan. stay safe amigo, chat soon.
I agree wholeheartedly buddy, Stracey, too big, too strong, too everything for Hatton. stay safe matey.
I don't think Stacy was too big at all. They were the same height. Stacey often came in well under the welterweight limit and he weighed in the day of the fight. And Hatton wasn't a smallish light welter. He got pretty big between fights and had to dry out to make 140, and then he had 30 hours or more to put the weight back on. If anything, Hatton was usually the bigger man at the bell. I just see Hatton manhandling him more so than Dave "Boy" Green did. Hatton wins by late stoppage or clear points victory.
Same day or day before weign in? I think I recall Hatton saying in his autobiography that he was 160lbs on fight night vs Collazo, compared to the 156lbs he was usually going to the ring at LWW. So timing of the weigh in is likely to be material to the outcome of the fight, if not necessarily the winner.
