You just dont get it.
If you were clued in at all you would have got my point.

I was not referring to travellers at all.
If this was a problem with a small minority it would have been dealt with years ago.
I was referring to IRISH SOCIETY - the majority who tolerate, (and fund thru their mis-spent taxes) this kind of thing.

(Some even use words like "hilarious" to describe it as if its some kind of entertainment).
This goes way beyond travellers mate. This is a problem with Irish Society and irish people in general - the way we do business in this little banana republic.

 

How does Ireland fund and facilitate this kind of behavior?

If you havnt noticed the exact same fueding and violence goes on in England to between travellers no differant to what happens in Ireland

 

Its fairly obvious how we fund and facilitate it.
Its crazy for any society to continue to feed house any clothe these people from cradle to grave on one hand - while on the other hand their entire lives are practically one big text-book example of behaviour that is destructive to the very society that pays their way.

Do you see what a farce this is this?

In terms of boxing - if I was running the national amateur term and there was any of the kind of surly sulking from the 2 "feuding" boys Ken Eagan talks about - home they go stars or not. Immediately. Goodbye.

I want to make it VERY clear that I am soley referring to people engaging it the type of scummy "feuding" we are talking about here NOT the many travellers who in no way deserve any criticism.

I have spent time with travellers in all sorts of situations (work and leisure)over many, many years, and I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times any of them ever gave me cause for complaint. :thumbsup

 

But they fund and house travellers the exact same in britian if not better so theirs no reason to single Ireland out for any extra abuse in relation to this kind of thing

as relation to the two John Joe's during the olympics they wernt sulking ,Egan stated they simply didnt tend to socialise much with each other or talk much, especially in comparision with how well boxing teams get on. You cant kick guys off team for keeping to themselves, same way you wouldnt expect to get fired from your job because your not that talkative

Back to John Joe, i know he considers himself a homebird but i think he should really move to the US permenently and give his career the level of dedication that matches his great natural ability

 

I seem to remember Nevin being involved in other carry on with drink and his father etc some time back too? Apologies if I am mis-remembering that incident and blaming the guy in the wrong.
But overall not very reassuring in terms of a successful boxing career.
Hope he straightens out in time.

 

ya apparently got into a shouting match with his father after a night out, arguing about getting a taxi home. Was only a minor incident but ridiculous no the less

Leave em to it, it's up to them if they want to continue the family name feud stuff....if it impacts John joe Nevin's or anyone else's career then so be it...if the fighter want's to become a professional boxer he seperates himself from that environment..if he doesnt then who cares.

I thought the way it worked was through arranged bare knuckle fights...whichever way i dont care it hardly the way to be living these days...

 

But the point is -its not as simple as that.
You cant say "leave em to it" and "I dont care"

When they get hurt in their "feuding" they end up in hospital..and there arent seperate hospitals for feuding travellers. In fact in Ireland we are barely able to say we have a hospital service at all.
There is only a VERY limited number of beds, doctors , ambulances etc.
So each bed and doctor and ambulance taken up by this **** is one less for the genuinely sick law-abiding citizens who need those facilities.

Ther is no such thing as a victimless crime.
Someone somewhere ALWAYS gets hurt. :thumbsup

Even more reason then to stop doing it! Sorry, If they decide to act that way then they take whatever comes with it, the fact it impacts innocent people who genuinly need help that's always going to be the way.

There's alaways going to be crime, not so convinced on having to carry the family name forward but that seems to be the way these guys work!

The only "flaw" in your argument is that - as things stand- there is NO incentive for em to stop this ****.
Why should they when they have the social safety nets that we fund in place to pick up the pieces, patch em up and send em back to their welfare-funded lifestyle every time.
I dont believe it has to "always impact innocent people" and I think it is beyond time to put an end to it now.

 

I guess not! It's up to the guys like John Joe to get away from it but I also guess that's easier said than done. Shame talented guys like John Joe get caught up in it all. Hopefully his talent can help him break away. :good
