It was a great performance on the back foot, he landed some sweet shots. I was so pissed he got drawn against Valdez because I like Valdez a lot and wanted him to medal. Ah well I think Valdez should turn pro, he landed some nice body-shots on Nevin but was a little too wild. I think his style is more suited to thr pros. I think he'll make a good pro and I look forward to his debut if he goes that route. :bbb As for Nevin, he looked good in that fight, I hope he can maybe snatch a silver but a bronze is good enough for him in any case.
That's pretty high expectations, Nevin is a fantastic talent. Like I said I could see him getting a silver but I am confident that Alvarez will get the gold.
He is slick as hell. You don't really see that counter punching style with Irish or British fighters. It was a great win tonight, that Mexican was a tough aggressive customer.
Well that sucks, I thought he would be fighting Shimzu. Well I think Nevin will be getting a bronze although has the ability for Silver... Although to be fair, Alvarez hasn't looked unbeatable in this tournament. Going by his last fight maybe he isn't the clear winner like I thought going in.
http://www.rte.ie/sport/olympics/player/332216/?autoplay=1 A class interview from Nevin to go on top of a class performance. Very honest aswell 'The only thing I didn't wanna do was give away a public warning, but what was I meant to do, he was too strong I had to do something' Just a note that Nevin didn't give away a public warning, but he's referring to quite a bit of holding he had to do, to hold off the brute strength of the powerful Oscar Valdez.
Great fight and effort from both, good luck to Nevin hes gonna be hard to beat with that good footwork. That bodyshot from the mexican - OOOFFFF - that kid if he adds some more subtle moves to his arsenal and some better head movement, is going to be a great pro to watch
Really liked both fighters, but Nevin just looks so at home in a ring, his movement was magic last night.
For sure, His style is more suited to the pro game as well. I look forward to him truning pro :happy That is one thing I love about the amateurs, we seen this guy when he was really young back in Beijing, through London 2012 and now we'll hopefully follow his pro career.
