No offense ment but I think this is a ridiculous question to ask, to begin with we've never seen John L on film and to be realistic we only know of him through legend Despite what he has done for the sport the guy was simply a fat drunk with little boxing ability, if he would be around today with modern rules and gloves he would struggle to be a journey man.

Yes of course I know they were incredibly tough and and fought for rounds upon rounds for hours on end, I know the game well and I dont need to be schooled, these guys like John L & Jefferies did great things for the sport, but the way guys like you who idolize olden day fighters like they were some sort of super human fighting machines and refuse to admit that boxers of today are far superior in almost every way is one of the reason modern fighters are constantly being criticized because they cant live up to the fighters in your fantasies.

    Rant over

    Myth :hi:

What did Sullivan ever do to make you think this? So, he walked into a few bars and called out some drunks, big deal! That's on par with my beating up 3 non drunk guys who were all bigger than me in OC, MD (17th St.) back in 1994.

Flea... not even the Mighty Tick will school anybody on this shlt!

I'm not one of those who claims newer is better or everything is bigger, stronger, and faster now. I'm just being honest about this. I would probably beat the fvck out of a prime John L. Sullivan... there, I said it!!!:yep:bbb

Sullivan was tiny by HW standards of today, and skillwise he wasnt much further advanced than when they drew a line in the earth and threw punches at each other across it.

So my guess is that in that kind of brawl , Sully would kill Klitto by KO everytime, but in a modern match Vit's little bro pushes him off and takes a points decision. Sullys skills surel cantbe anything beyond state level in reality, sincehe refused to fight half the population who might well crush him anyway. Hmm mind you the Klits arent exactly fighting amazing fighters either.

Got to go with the actual evidence though - theres not enough evidence to tell.

Sullivan fought better, drink better, made loved better, and lived better than any Klitshcko.

    Total mismatch.

clearly John L had faster hands than anyone of his era, but he was a cw by todays standards.

    Wlad batters him.

see thats what the elephant man was missing. Not sure what women would want, but I am just guessing that they'd prefer a fairly goodlooking, fairly well grounded Klit on top of them rather than a disease riddled bruised face ugly woman hater.

but you are quite right of course. lol I sound like a charcter from the Big Bang Theory.

    Impossible to say.

All that we have to reconstruct Sullivan by are contemporary accounts.

He was clearly a phenomenal talent, and perhaps one of the best heavyweight finishers of all time. Based on what I know, I would not be in the least bit shocked if he knocked Wlad out.

Unfortunately, while the contemporary sources tell us a lot about him, they also leave certain things uncertain.

In a final ironic twist, there are certain paralels between their careers. They both came allong when there were a number of title claims, and had to set about unifying them.

like janitor, i agree there's not enough pure fact and no footage of sullivan to make an accurate judgement of styles. based on what i've read and what is known, you transport THAT sullivan here today with modern rules and no time for adjustment and wlad wins
