John L Sullivan V Professor Lafflin

Here is a good article. It describes Lafflin as a club fighter (doesnt these mean he was a queensbury specialist? On this occassion there doesnt seem to have been a decision but Lafflin does seem to have landed some good shots, although his opponent was said to be the cleverer. Probably understandable, considering his opponent was the promoter and former world champion, Jem Mace!

Here is a short note of Laflin's bout with Joe Goss, another good name to have on his resume. There was no decision of course, but Laflin was said to neutralise Goss' cleverness, so he was obviously competitive.

This is more about Sullivan Herald, but Laflin did say Herald was a good fighter.
