Anyone remember the hype behind Todd Foster back in the day, or for that matter John "The Shark" Lark? Started his career with something like The announcer the crowd here certainly thought a lot of his ability and amateur record, though the proverbial bubble bursts in this shocking one round bout. The silence once the catastrophe for their man starts to unfold is deafening. Like something out of a Japanese boxing audience. Utter shock. Rare footage, good stuff. I always love looking back on the not so distant past with fights like this one. This content is protected
Foster went on to have 20 or so fights on the "Mid-west" Circuit after this disaster, and actually ended up getting TKO'ed by Hector Macho Man in 1995 at Atlantic City, for the International Boxing Council Welterweight Title.
Looking at his record, padded as it is at times, and factoring in his amateur record... he seemingly wasn't a terrible fighter. He was seemingly "caught cold" this time out by a kill or be killed sort of fighter in Lark.
I wonder if Bobby Darrin was a MW back in the early 60's? At least he had Sandra Dee to put the **** to, post concert.
As a person, Todd Foster remains highly thought of in his hometown of Great Falls, Montana. I myself am a native of Great Falls, but I haven't lived there since 1962. - Chuck Johnston
Todd Foster was not close to being as good as another Montana boxer, Roger Rouse, even though the latter had 22 losses on his record. Compared to Foster, Rouse faced far better opposition in addition to having some wins over some good fighters. In addition, Rouse fought far beyond his "sell by" date, resulting in him being simply an opponent for a number of years during the latter part of his career. - Chuck Johnston
