Thanks for posting. Here is what led to this. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) disagreed with the controversial decision in this weekend's welterweight championship to award Timothy Bradley the title over Manny Pacquiao, saying Pacquiao had been "robbed." Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) agreed. McCain This content is protected , in response to Reid's remarks in the Capitol on Tuesday: This content is protected Reid, This content is protected who has This content is protected in the past, used the newsworthy fight to push for stalled legislation that would establish a national boxing commission. Reid worked with McCain on the bill.
It's not just Republican John McCain. He's joined with Democrat Senator Harry Reid. AAAANNNDDD NEEEWWWWW....... United States Boxing Commission Another win for Timmeh!!!
8 weight division titles and now possibly the creation of the United States Boxing Commission. What a legacy.
I have a new found respect for John McCain ! Boxing the Red light district of sports ! So sad ! I hate that the Bradley Pacquio fight was the reason all this noise is finally being made but it is a start !
this is big for boxing. I can't believe more people aren't talking about this. Then again, the amount of ******s on this board to realize the importance of this is something that shouldn't be surprising to me.
Sometimes you need a big name to help get the little guys recognition. at least its being mentioned and hes trying something. Theres probably been tons of fighters that suffered after effects of fighting but it took somebody like ali for people to finally do some research on parkinsons.
Seriously. I could care less about the decision, but the fact that actual reform is being considered is a good thing. Isn't that what Pacquiao haters have been championing with testing recently? You know, improving the sport? People take this biasedness and hate to a new level its sickening
Fickled ass fans "Something needs to be done to fix the sport of boxing" "....these politicians need to mind their own business "
Do you have an idea how much money a Pacquiao fight brings to Las Vegas economy? Now Pacquiao hinting on fighting elsewhere, in Mexico City.
So...this is legislation that these idots agree on and want to push through Yet they are actively stonewalling economic progress by inactivity (admitidly). Disgraceful ****s.
If McCain ISN'T a casual fan the breaking point should have started a long time ago. It should only take one crime for people to start taking action. Imagine if we ignored the killing of children for years until a celebrity baby comes along and dies at the hands of the same murderers. Then we start screaming and hollering. Better late than never, but c'mon. People claim that McCain's been proactive about this for a long time but I have never seen viral YouTube videos about him discussing the mess in Boxing until now. Marquez was involved in a fight with PACQUIAO last November. Many fans felt there was a robbery. Where was McCain and the media outrage then? I'm not saying I don't want the much needed help. I just get the feeling this is all about favoritism towards Pacquiao. Changes aren't going to happen overnight which is why I'm not holding my breath.
