This content is protected How on earth has this guy managed to get some of the fights he has gotten? Just watched his fight against Crawford and he looks like an uncoordinated downsyndrome kid running around the ring swinging for the fences and getting counter punched clean, over and over again. Only other fight of his I have seen was against my man Broner and he made AB look like the sharpest and cleanest boxer in the last decade. AB absolutely cleaned him up. So am I missing something? His first 20 fights were just to pad his record and then he was just fed over and over again to actual boxers..
He built up a nice record on paper and then had a brilliant comeback KO over Hank Lundy. Lundy was a hot prospect back then, if i am not mistaken. This content is protected Shortly after that, they got him a title shot. And DeMarco ****ing flattened him! (People have forgotten how good DeMarco was, even just recently he upset a prospect) This content is protected After that he won some and lost to Klimov. And then came another epic comeback, this time over Mickey Bey Jr. This content is protected That win prompted a swift move up in weight, where he was sacrificed to Lucas Matthysse. But Molina was there to win, and what a WAR!!! that was! This content is protected After that he lost to Broner and Soto in lackluster performances. He had a quick comeback win to stop the 3 fight loosing streak and then he was sacrificed to Provodnikov: Molina once again showed up to win and boy did he win big! Schooled the crude Russian brawler. But then he met Crawford and the levels were apparent. Crawford schooled him and broke him down. In his last fight, Molina went to war with Ivan Redkach in a FOTY candidate. This content is protected All in all, with a few exceptions, Molina has always been in good fights. Dude has been "must watch Tv" on several occasions.
Appreciate the time you took to make that break down. I just find his style so ugly and basic. I haven't watched enough though. Ill stop being ignorant and watch a couple of those fights. Thanks.
I think he also always had a good promoter and now he should be with Al Haymon. So given his fan friendly style, willingness and a handful of quality wins; it's not a wonder he got so much exposure. I personally feel its because of those upsets that he got to move on. And i agree, he is a gatekeeper.
Molina is a strange one. I question the efforts he put in against Broner and Crawford. I remember watching him walk out to the Broner fight thinking he looked like the most unenthusiastic competitor I had ever seen, but disregarded that thought until I watched the 'effort' he displayed in the ring. Molina also looked like he was just going through the motions in the Crawford fight. I'd never waste my time watching him fight top competition anymore.
Did you see Molina vs Provodnikov? Or Redkach? Those were brilliant performances. On the right level, he will perform.
Molina is a human punching bag. After so many losses you can only strive to be like this guy. A man paid to lose. Paid nicely. Sometimes he comes up with a win or two just to get his name buzzing again. I doubt anyone has Molina winning before his fights. 450k for 40 mins with Broner. Sign me up.
