    Appreciation Thread
John Molina Jr. is a 5'10.5 32 year old Light Welterweight with a 27-5 22 KO's 2 KO losses record. Born and raised in Covina, California. I'm a very big fan of John's, he's so easy to root for, he's tenacious and has an old school look and feel to him, almost like he'd fit right in, back in the 50's, and he also has a 68% KO ratio which also helps. What's even more easy to root for about him, is no matter how flawed a boxer he is, and he's really flawed because he will more than likely be beaten by anyone with a modicum of skill and has a decent chin, he never gives up and has scored many a couple of literally last minute stoppage wins over guys who were shutting him out on the scorecards. Most notably his win in the last minute of the Mickey Bey match which I was lucky enough to be watching on TV when it happened as opposed to seeing it back. I was rooting for John and he was being dominated from beginning to end, and to make matters worse in the 10th and last round Bey was hurting Molina who looked completely gassed and was ready to go down and then BANG he caught Bey, staggered him, he fell into the ropes and he opened up a flurry causing Drakulich to step in and call it off, it was truly a beautiful sight, just when I'd lost all hope of TMT suffering a loss, John pulled it out.

He did the same thing with Hank Lundy on FNF's, Hank was dominating him from start to finish, then out of nowhere, the perfect shot Lundy staggered and John got a Hail Mary finish. But as good as he is at closing in matches when all hope is lost, he also has had his fair share of bad luck.
The worst of his bad luck came when he got a shot against Antonio DeMarco for the Lightweight title the bell rang, out came DeMarco hit him in the nose, surprising Molina, causing him to be momentarily discombobulated and instead of taking a knee until he got his composure, he covered up on the ropes and Jack Reiss stopped it in the first round, John was never truly hurt by the shot and protested the stoppage but he should have taken a knee.

As far as his other losses go, he lost to Klimov barely in a MD, and lost to Humberto Soto who acted like a baby and took several knees causing John to lose 2 points for low blows completely shifting the outcome of the fight, which would have been closer without the deductions. But his finest hour came against Lucas Matthysse, everyone had written him off (not me) not realizing the Demarco stoppage was ridiculous and never even gave him a chance, but Matthysse did exactly what I thought he would, thinking he had nothing to fear, walked right into a right to the temple from the far bigger man and he got dropped, and if John had any confidence I think he could have stopped Lucas then and there because he was truly hurt, but I don't think John could believe it either, and then he dropped him again, this time a little more questionable. What followed was in my estimation the Gatti/Ward like Bloodbath 2014 Fight of the Year in which John proved to the world that the DeMarco KO was a fluke because he took a hellacious beating bleeding profusely from the back of the head all the while fixing his hair along the way, and still wanted to fight even when he physically couldn't. So now John gets his shot against The Problem Adrien Broner here's hoping Broner underestimates him as well and is up on points and then out of nowhere Bang 12th round stoppage for The Gladiator. So Check Out not Carlos Molina, not the other Carlos Molina, But John Molina Jr. one of the most entertaining fighters in the game. :toney:toney:toney:toney

Poor guy never learned any defense. He's a face first fighter. He will be a vegetable by the time he's 50 if he makes it.

Hard not to root for a guy like Molina, yes he's not the greatest fighter nor does he claim to be, but he has a ton of heart and can punch so he's always in with a chance.

He's a boring fighter. Refuses to throw a jab or bodyshot and blocks punches w his face.

I don't like Mr. Molina's face. He looks like a Frank Miller villain.

He dropped Matthysse, and took Matthysse punches flush for 10 and a half rounds, Broner won't hurt him, but he can hurt Broner.

Unfortunatly I still think Broner will edge him over 12 rounds...and I don't like Broner even betting on Paulie to beat him...Winnable for Molina but I don't favour him.

I love Frank Miller's work, that's why I think he looks old school, he looks like a henchmen from a 40's noir film.

I'm not saying with 100% certainty Molina will Broner, but its a far more competitive match than many on here seem to think it is.
