@154, there isn’t a lot that touches him, I also think he stops the hit man @154 also. He took monster shots from a past prime APEX Predator in The Marvelous One(who was still the best middleweight in the world) and hung with him till late before wilting, busting Marvin up and giving him his hardest fight in terms of punishment received in his whole career. Hard fast counters Hagler received with nearly every punch he connected on Mugabi. The Beast imo would’ve beat Norris prime no doubt and maybe any of the other fab 4 on his day. A Beast
Wow, someone who actually watched Mugabi prior to his fight with Hagler. Though I don't believe he beats any of the fab 5 ( I always include Benitez, the forgotten warrior of that group) he would've been a very, very dangerous opponent to any of them. Especially Hearns or Benitez. T.Norris prime Mugabi J.Jackson's him. Charlo wouldn't want any of that smoke judging his inclination of selective opponents.
At 154 at his peak he is a serious problem for anyone in history. I think Mike McCallum would have beat him though and Julian Jackson would be interesting but I would back John the Beast Mugabi. He had excellent fundamental boxing skills to complement his raw power. Back in the day in the gym as amateurs he showed a friend of mine when asked how to generate power. Really nice man too.
