If Trinidad gets through the first three he runs away with this... Felix had a shaky chin through the first few rounds, but then it seemed like his fitness 'kicked in' and HIS power took over... Would of been a GREAT fight prime for prime..
I'm a big fan of Tito but i think the few fights people have seen of Mugabi (Hagler, Norris and Mclellan) don't really show how beastly the man was. Mugabi was a murderous puncher at middle weight, more less light middle and all he would need would be a solid connect on Tito's so so chin for the night to end. Lets not forget that Mugabi had underrated boxing skills (an olympic silver medal attests to this) and prime for prime, had a solid chin. Just look at the bombs he took from Hagler yet he practically caved in more from exhaustion since only one of his 25 pro fights had gone beyond the sixth round before Hagler! I'd go with Mugabi by TKO in 3 or 4 since Tito was most vulnerable to being dropped early.
I see a back and forth battle for about 5 rounds when Tito gets stopped not before being knock down a few times. Great fight from two great fighters.
Harder fight to pick than some think....Mugabi took Haglers best shots and was 25-0(25 kos) and after a fight like that you are never the same...showed good skills, solid chin and good power....Tito may have had better stamina and punching technique...Mugabi was a bit str8 up and stiff so Tito would land right hands and hooks....I see tito getting dropped early and their being a see saw battle...IMO I think Trinidad wins but it could go either way to close to call
Man would this have been a great fight (while it lasted). I'm leaning Mugabi only because watching Hagler - Mugabi, I'm reminded that Mugabi was pretty damn shifty when he wanted to be. If he could stand in front of Hagler and counter effectively, he'd give Tito fits in spots. But then again, if Tito survives the first half, which he always managed to, he'd be walking Mugabi down late...
