Knocks out Michael Escobar in 4 and calls out the woman beating Judas Derry Mathews. Great addition to the already exciting lightweight division we have over here. Welcome back John Murray.
I thought he looked great, and a bit more cautious than he used to be. Not much rust to be seen. Looking forward to his next one now.
Good win as Escobar has shown himself to be durable. I think he might have two good wins left in him, problem with Murray was always the defence he took far too many shots with his face block routine. Still, I hope he does well.
I think a lot of fighters have had a chance to shine that wouldnt of if John was fighting the last couple of years,he beats the likes of Crolla,Mathews and Coyle imo.He can get away with the lack of defence at domestic no problem,he takes a good shot does Murray as we seen when he fought Rios. He'll need to address it if he ever gets another shot at the big time though.
murray should be operating round world level now nothing more for him to do :bart wining another british title is nice but surley he wants the big fights across the pond :huh
Murray was always good to watch, even when he fought Rios he left it all in the ring. Everyone thought he would be blown away in a couple of rounds, and he proved alot of people wrong.
Yeah I agree, Crolla isn't really in the same league as Murray, nor is Matthews, there's a bit of a gap between them and the likes of Murray and Mitchell. I think he should go down the European route and see what he has left. Problem is he's in a good division where he'll have to take punishment as he's never been agile or quick, if you ever saw his fight with Buckland he walked through hell to take him down.
I watched that fight with Buckland live,Gary Buckland regardless of his last outing is a pretty decent little operator.I think when John realises he can take the power of his opponent he just trudges forward without any regard for defence. He did the same with Kevin Mitchell and paid the price because Kevin can punch,he stood in the pocket with Rios and fought fire with fire against a guy that looked two divisions bigger than him,the man is a warrior but that can only get you so far. In all honestly I don't think he's got what it takes to win world title but he sure as hell would make a decent fight of it.He's well capable of being the best in Europe so I reckon your right the European route might be the smart route to go down for now. Great to see him back though
Been in to many wars IMO. Not getting to excited over his latest win, I think he could get seriously hurt if he steps up to world level again.
The fight with Mathews would be a good one, I'd fancy Murray to break him down and stop him after 7 or 8 entertaining rounds.
