John Ruiz put on the performance of a champion last night. bonecrunching rights and wicked left hooks. full on aggression.

he put on a winning performance, and would have won if he hadn't ate so many jabs.

what do you think? should Ruiz retire after a performance like that?

I think Ruiz ought to call it quits.

He put up a good show, but the lack of head movement caused him to eat the jab all night long and in the end, lost him the fight.

He lived up to his word. i think he is the heavyweight out of this bunch:

    ruiz
    valuev
    chagaev
    gomez
    virchis

because he has it all. prime for prime he beats them all. and in maybe 95' he beats valuev, who was smaller then.

Was an interesting tactic to block Valuevs jabs with his head I must say.

Yep, that was Ruiz's best performance, albeit losing.

He should not retire, there are couple of fights out there for him. I would like to see him against Wlad, for instance.

at his age where does he go? he's won the WBA belt twice and really that was the best you'll ever see from ruiz. If he retires now he doesnt become a gate-keeper or old journeyman and went out on his shield with a fairly good performance (for him).

He has always been a gatekeeper, even when he was a beltholder.

You know, I can't help but like Ruiz. Except for his feud with my Idol, James Toney, I really have nothing against the man. I find it highly amusing to see watch him lose. Norman Stone is a show all by himself, and I love it when he doesnt get a decision he thinks is his. But the man is fearless and comes to fight, and is a DKP fighter. He needs to rematch with Lights Out for a minor title.
