    Ah, we think alike friend.

Ruiz is among he most exciting heavyweight fighters of all time.

I had the great honour of watching this man train - he would spend hours squeezing heavybags to work on his clinching.

HOWEVER he had a darkside. I remember sitting outside a diner with this dude just chilling, then out of nowhere he walked across the street to this pet shop, he came back with a budgee and then crushed it in his bare hands.

    Just for kicks! He said.

Favourite memory: His half - what the ****, half - where am I? face after he got knocked into another reality by David Tua in like 4 seconds.

Holyfield was 40, so the boxing gods hands were tied.

Prime Ruiz beats any version of Holyfield.

for the people saying ruiz sucked totally, he cleanly beat a old holyfield.

a holyfield that went on to beat rahman and several b level guys.

And they clearly stopped the Tua fight too early. Stoney had Ruiz playing possum, but John was about to strike back as soon as David got too complacent.

I think we should have a Stoney appreciation thread.

Him insulting the ref then lying about it, then the replay, gets me every time.
Legend who actually cared for his fighters in the most eccentric way.

I hate him as a fighter. He's my least favourite style to watch in history and watching him vs Byrd and Golota single handedly put me off HW boxing.

    That is wrong.
He could have lost muscle & fought at CW, but at his peak Jeffries was in the mid 220's. While lean.
He was very strong, stronger than Ruiz.
I doubt Ruiz would be the equal in wrestling technique that could have neutralized that discrepancy (as say Ali did to Foreman).

Ruiz would have thoroughly out-athleted and out-moderned Jeffries. Ruiz was a legit 6-2, 235 of post-modern flesh. A unicorn heavyweight.

He had a great trainer. Great teacher. Norman Stone always kept his poise, and kept his cool. Class Act. He should have his own thread.
