Ruiz is an easy target, but people give him way too much grief. I know people rip him for getting "undeserved title shots" but he always shows up to fight in good shape, gives his best effort, and takes on anybody who will sign to fight him. You can't say the same about a lot of heavyweights, including some big names who also got shots they didn't deserve. I have no big beef with the Quiet Man.

    :good

I'm just the same. I also respect the fact that he is such an overachiever, and admire his mental strength in coming back after losing his undefeated record in such devastating fashion to David Tua. Many men would have been afraid to step in a ring again after that, but Ruiz not only did that, but became an established titleholder.

Ruiz could probably beat Bragimov and he already did beat Valuev.

Ruiz might just be the best American HW out there. He can at the very least survive in the ring w/ ANYBODY w/o falling on the floor due to exhaustion and, if he lands a lottery punch, is probably the lone threat* to Wladimir K's title out there . . . and I'm not bullshitting.

    *Honorable Mention: Oliver McCall

Ruiz looked good against Tisdale. Again...it was against Tisdale. It was absolutely apparent from the first 10 seconds of the fight that Ruiz
had no respect whatsoever for Tisdales power. Ruiz walked through hin -- he actually faught from the outside. I am guessing that once Ruiz fights someone with power, we will see the old jab-and-grab and maul Ruiz reappear.

He tried to box against Toney and it didn't work too well for him. But then again, maybe Ruiz can out box these lower level fighters without having to resort to the wrestling. And has also been said, maybe Ruiz realized this bum had no power, so Ruiz could play fast and loose with him, and try to box, as the powerless Tisdale has to fear.

But when Ruiz progresses back to the upper tier opponents where he'll be facing powerful punchers, as well as boxing skill, he'd better go back to the hugging.

i think he would beat tua these days, unless tua gets serious, which would have happened by now if he wanted it
