I look forward to the McCline Ruiz fight. I am interested in seeing how Ruiz does, as well as how McCLine does. Interesting fight, in my opinion.

Good news for me. His last 2 bouts vs. Valuev and Chagaev were top-class performances. Really entertaining, no excessive holding. Ruiz came in 100% fit, showed a lot of heart & chin, and survived 12 rds against very strong opposition.
In addition no loudmouth behaviour, no drugs, no whining after the lost fights.

Ruiz beats an out of shape Rahman in a hugfest

Ruiz gets a perhaps early stoppage in a hugfest vs Oquendo

Ruiz gets beaten by Golota and KD twice, but gets a gift

Ruiz is humiliated by Toney on roids

Ruiz loses a controversial decision to Valuev

Ruiz loses clearly to Chagaev

Vitali becomes first to KO Larry Donald, who would later on do better against Valuev than Ruiz did

Vitali has a close and brutal fight with Lewis and loses due to cuts. It is a totally fair stoppage. Vitali wins 4 rounds of the 6 it lasted.

Vitali blasts out Kirk Johnson.

Vitali KOs Corrie Sanders, who is coming of a WBO title win over now #1 headyweight Wladimir.

Vitali KOs slightly out of shape and inconsistent Danny Williams, who is coming of a win over a rather shot, but still very dangerous Tyson.

So basically Ruiz fights tougher opponents on average - but has a totally mediocre record against them. He loses at least as often as he wins against good opponents. Ruiz´s wins are hardly ever impressive or very decisive. Ruiz gets OWNED by two former middleweights - thought one was on roids of course. The DQ win he got was questionable. The win against Golata even more so. Ruiz should maybe have won vs Valuev, but most felt Donald did better vs Valuev than Ruiz.

On the other hand:

Vitali never gets OWNED. Vitali wins by KO in most of his fights. None of his wins were questionable. Vitali fought the top heavy at the time, which Ruiz never did.

Zakman, what are your thoughts on Ruiz's fight against Valuev? In that fight he used good headmovment to get In close and rip him with combinations, stepping In and out.

All Valuev did was hold and jab and got the gift decision strangely.

 

Very well put - although you neglected to mention that Ruiz held excessively in every fight against rated opposition outside of Valuev and Chagaev, and of course, he lost those fights. :lod

Pretty solid evidence that, without cheating, this fraud couldn't compete above the New England regional level - and wouldn't have if it weren't for King!

Hardly - it was a close, competitive fight which I thought Valuev won. While Ruiz didn't look as pathetic as he usually does, he still lost.

Big surprise, since King was through pulling the strings for him. And isn't it interesting that Ruiz hasn't "won" a fight against a decent fighter since??? Good be a connection there, himm??:huh
