Jesus Christ people Ruiz has one proper KO in a Decade. He has no skills and no power. None. Do you seriously think a British referee is going to let Ruiz hug, grab, wrestle, and hold against the hometown fighter? :roflatsch Haye should be able to smash Ruiz.
Ruiz is an established heavyweight with some good wins. Hes also awkward as hell. Haye shouldnt underestimate him like you guys are or hes going to wind up disappearing like Kirk Johnson. Haye has speed, and he should study the Jones fight very closely on how to beat Ruiz and forget about knocking him out. Ruiz is ugly, but hes awkward and hard to time and hit cleanly.
If you've watched Ruiz's evolution of late, you know this will be a slugfest. The real burning question is whether Haye's power at heavyweight is enough to really hurt Ruiz (and vice versa). It's actually a fascinating match-up and will be very, very telling in regards to the division.
I just recently watched Ruiz vs RJJ again, and what a gutless, near useless, low punch output joke Ruiz was in that fight. Haye has nothing to worry about against Huggy Bear.
Spot on. I think Haye and his team will be training for his toughest fight because in some ways it is. Those who have fought Ruiz (Jones and Tua aside) have been made to look ordinary themselves. Rahman, Holyfield, Oquendo, Golota...... Haye needs to be on the ball here if he wants to win and look good doind so.
I think Ruiz tries to get to Haye early and test his chin. For the first three or four rounds Ruiz will be a big threat so it's important Haye boxes clever and shows Ruiz that he can dig at heavyweight. It wouldn't suprise me if Haye decks Ruiz in the early stages. The all important question is whether Haye can stay out of a messy maul, which Ruiz has a tendency of drawing fighters into. In my opinion, this fight will be a lot like Haye - Fragomeni.
