Lewis would have smoked this bum inside 2 rounds. He took what was seen as the more dangerous, and marketable fight at the time in Grant.

Lewis gave up his WBA title rather than fighting Ruiz. Fought a glass jawed hype job called Michael Grant.

...for more money, prestige, glory and bragging rights.

Ruiz was never popular even when he was popular

So you're telling me beating up two glass jawed hype jobs in a row in Grant and Frans Botha is more prestigious and holds more glory and bragging rights than fighting John Ruiz for the WBA strap?

a fake strap that Ruiz never earned, only held due to his being promoted by Don King, and the WBA being an ultra corrupt wank organization.

    Speaking of glass jawed hypejobs.

Thus was born the clinching Don King promoted spoiler.

Ruiz was the number 1 contender in the WBA and WBC, Lewis refused to fight him and gave his belt away. The number 1 contender wanted to fight the champion and the champion refused, same thing that happened to Lewis with Bowe and the WBC.

Nobody considers Ruiz a glass jawed fraud, the man has been stopped only once in his prime while Lewis has been knocked out cold twice by lesser men than John Ruiz and one who he already beat. Ruiz also holds common victories over Lewis's best opposition.

Are you seriously implying that Lewis was actually afraid of this featherfisted clinching bum?

I'm not implying anything, I'm speaking nothing but facts. Lewis refused to fight the number 1 contender for 2 of his belts, decided to give one of them away so he didn't have to fight him. You can't spin it any other way, this is what literally happened. There was just something about Ruiz and a Vitali Klitschko with a proper training camp that rubbed Lewis the wrong way, wanted nothing to do with it.

Didn't say they were. Just that Lewis wouldn't fight him. Ruiz beat Holyfield, Rahman, Golota can't say he was a 'total bum'.

If Ruiz was a total bum, he would have been smoked by all the top 10 guys he fought.

Clearly that didn’t happen. He was better than advertised. People talk about his holding like he’s the first guy to ever hold a lot. It’s funny.

Without the nonstop clinching, gift decisions, faking low blows etc. Ruiz was a VERY run of the mill Heavyweight, before reaping the benefits of being a favored Don King fighter, he dropping decisions to likes of Kobosev, got KO'd inside the first 30 seconds of rd 1 by Tua, struggling to beat very limited fighters like Thunder and so on.
