John Ruiz v Fitzsimmons opponents at heavyweight how would he have fared?

    I`m writing to this after reading an arguement made by someone stating that Jones achieved what Bob achieved by moving up from middle to beat a heavyweight titlist, so what do fans think here?

    I think that you shouldn't put my words into that context.

    It was tongue in cheek coz I've got Fitzsimmons lower than everyone else

    Corbett would beat him IMO.

    Him against Sharkey would be real ugly.

    Ruiz was a bit of a wildcard, maybe the skills to beat him on points, but maybe not tough enough.

    Maher would be dangerous, but maybe not tough enough.

    Sailor Tom absolutely stops him over 25, no question in my mind

    I'm not sure because we don't have enough footage of most of his opponents. I'm sure that Corbett, Jeffries, Maher and Sharkey were better in his era than Ruiz. Then there are Ruhlin and Choynski, both arguably better too.

    So Fitz fought arguably 6 better HWs than Ruiz and he beat 5 of them. Quite decent for a MW.
