sorry man, but Jones' chin wouldn't be able to handle Floyd's power. i dont think he had a better defense and their speed is pretty much equal.

Would be interesting Ruiz is tough, Patterson isnt going to blast out a prime Ruiz.

I think the outcome depends on the refferee and if they will let Ruiz get away with his usual tactics.

Patterson was a very small heavyweight so would be interesting to see if Ruiz could hurt him.

If Ruiz cant hurt him then I cant see him outboxing Patterson.

Floyd perhaps has the most overall speed of the heavyweights if we're talking pound for pound speed. Ali was slightly faster on his feet, but Floyds hands were faster.

With all due respect Seamus, you just lost your credibility with me after that post, not to mention my extreme bias against trying to match fighters from different eras.

Sorry Jon, but Jones hasn't the power to 'toy' with Floyd. I can argue a pvp all-time ranking but...don't attempt your HW Floyd vs. HW RJJ scrap nonsense.

Floyd had heart, but a china chin.

He doesn't have the footwork to do the job RJJ did -- just leaps in wide open with punches.

    Fastest heavyweight ever? Please.

I used to underestimate Patterson but over time have come to appreciate his ability. Ruiz would be somewhat troublesome due to his style but Floyd would eventually get to him and either stop him or pull out the decision. Ruiz didn't have the kind of power that could tilt the fight in his favor more decisively and without it Patterson has the edge in just about every category. I'll take Patterson by UD.

Patterson had quick hands and can do what Roy Jones did but Floyd hit harder as a heavyweight....Ruiz could make it ugly at times but Floyds fast hands take the nod

I think he meant to say that Floyd couldn't do the boxing job to Ruiz that Jones Jr did. I don't agree because Patterson moving in and out with his, crouch, peakaboo and leaping left was dangerous.

I don't entirely understand the notion of calling Patterson weak chinned but I do agree that his beard is not in the caliber of a Chuvalo, Marciano or Foreman.

Floyd's been knocked down a plenty in his career and out too, but he was a smaller heavyweight, who naturally grew from middleweight size. The force weight punches of Liston, Foreman, Shavers, Lyle and to some degree Tyson would knock any solid heavyweight off his feet. Floyd got up off the canvas many times in his career which probably speaks more about his courage and toughness. Not many fighters could Take solid repeated shots from an incensed Ali who sat down on his punches to punish him.

In his prime Jones 'toyed' with Ruiz, toyed with Toney, Hopkins, hell anyone.
Floyd was really a small Cruiserweight.

As much as a liked Floyd I'm not stuck in the past, Jones wide UD or stops him late.
