Tough call. Ruiz pre hugging would probably get starched, but he adapted to a style that was very difficult to offset. Morrison had little besides his lefthook, so who knows, probably be an ugly fight.
I wouldn't go so far as to say Morrison only had the left hook like Cooney. The Foreman fight convinced me of that.
everyone knows ruiz is a fraud, any amateur with 5 fights under their belt would beat him if he isn't allowed to cheat. right haters?
Yeah but he was fighting a land tortoise. He never fought that way again. Morrison could box and move a little when he wanted to, but it was to little affect against guys who could pressure him. He always went back to winging the lefthook. Ruiz was ugly but affective against a good amount of the top ten in the late 90's and early part of 2000. He did a better number on Evander Holyfield than Lewis did only one fight later.
Ruiz. Morrison sucked and gets overrated for the Foreman win, which not coincidentally was against a guy who was also overrated.
Wow wow wow. Ruiz used to be a boxer/puncher himself, a pretty aggressive and solid hitting one at that. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AybdTFUHCI[/ame] Post-Tua by the way. Obviously Anis was no world beater but he went ten with Michael Grant. Not saying Ruiz is some ATG puncher, but he may as well be considering Morrison's chin. When any serious punch results in you being buzzed pretty good, if not all over the place, you have to question the chin. Hipp, Ruddock, Carl Williams, Ross Puritty, Yuri Vaulin... If you could tag Morrison, you could hurt him. Finishing the show was another issue entirely though. Anyone remember Morrison's fight against last second replacement Tim Tomashek? He was a spoiler himself, nothing particularly special as a fighter but he could spoil, and he made Morrison look pretty bad as long as their fight lasted. I'd favor Ruiz personally, all said.
Somewhat intresting matchup, i can see Morrison possibly pulling it out but the more i replay this in my head I see Ruiz frustrating Morrison and stopping him late.
I see this as a good fight. Morrison would make Ruiz fight. Both men might go down. There might be a foul or two mixed in. I do think Morrison's power would win it for him, but I'd leave an open door for Ruiz scoring a late round stoppage if Morrison gasses. I would pick Morrison.
ruiz doesnt give morrison the room tothrow his combo's....morrison also had a dodgy static defence a ruiz right hand down the pipe when morrison comes in should end matters. also ruiz even though basic and awkward is also pretty hard to tag clean. also morrisons stamina was fairly average and agaisnt a grinding hugging spoiler like ruiz i think morrison could get stopped late by tko. both men down. with morrison cathing him clean early possibly an early jab, left hook by tommy could stop things VERY quickly. but i see a ruiz clinch down slowing morrison down to exhaustion. ruiz round 7 -11 tko
