Interesting matchup he is no Barret so he will not get KO'd. He has a tough chin and his smother style does not allow him to get hit clean. He can tire Haye if Haye cannot keep him away. I doubt he will run like the Valuev fight. This will tell us how good Haye is. Haye may run like the Valuev fight to keep the smothering Ruiz away. But I can see this being like the Jones JR fight Haye just too fast and Ruiz never really getting his rythm. Or like anyother close fought ugly Ruiz fight. I think it goes 12.
When was the last time Ruiz won a meaningful fight? How did he get on against Valuev, Chagaev and Toney? You're a dope, Ruiz is ****.
I don't see Ruiz getting KO'd. If Haye Kos Ruiz he deserves a medal and a fiesta. I see Haye using his superior speed to keep Ruiz off balance and to basically force a strategy of pick and pop similar to what he used against Valuev. He'll take a close decison as Ruiz tries to snuggle him to death.
I had Valuev win both times never saw Chagaev fight though it was close Toney juiced so it did not count
Ruiz did manage to TKO Fres Oquendo. Oquendo while not great was good and gave good accounts in his fights with Byrd and Tua. There isn't much size difference between Haye and Oquendo either, though Haye carries a power advantage. Oquendo's chin and stamina seemed abit better than Haye's does. Haye is just fine unless Ruiz is able to maul him regularly. Then he'll be worn out by the Puerto Rican Octopus' grappling and be in big trouble. Haye's best interest is to fight him much like Jones did and use his speed to get off first and stay off the ropes. Walking behind the referee after broken clinches helps to stall Ruiz from trying to just tie him up. Hopefully with Ruiz no longer being affiliated with Don King there will either be less clinching from him or at least less tolerated from the ref(Haye is in his own back yard so let's hope the ref keeps an extra close eye on Johnny's mauling)
Ruiz looked slow and ponderous is his last fight he isn't as good as he once was. Also style wise Ruiz has always done well with his jab and grab style but against fast handed fighters it doesn't work as he has to get off first to score points. If Haye boxes and uses his better speed and athleticism he should win comfortably on points.
Like it or not, no one has been able to dispose of John Ruiz yet. This is a very intriguing fight for both men. If Haye can overcome this enigma in spectacular fashion, his detractors will have no choice but to take notice. On the other hand, what will be the state of the division if Ruiz somehow pulls off the upset and KOs David Haye? My guess is that no questions will be answered from this fight. Haye will win a boring and uneventful UD in England.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl You're insane. Ruiz has no punching power to speak of at the world class level. Haye's chin isn't great, but Ruiz only knocks out tomato cans and journeymen - and even then he doesn't knock 'em cold. Other than arguably Fres Oquendo, Ruiz has NEVER stopped anyone above the journeyman level.
Oquendo is at least a B-rated boxer. Not a lot of power but he has a decent chin. Still, Ruiz got an early ref stoppage there as Fres wasn't really hurt that bad.
This is exactly my point - Ruiz has no power to speak of at the world class level. He has no real true KOs of even borderline world class guys like Oquendo, forget about the top level guys. There is no way that Ruiz KOs Haye, even with his shaky chin. If Monte Barrett couldn't do it, neither does Ruiz. And with his extremely limited skills, there is no way Ruiz wins a legitimate decision either. He might try to hold excessively or fake some low blows, but they aren't gonna let him get away with that in England.
