Lets face it he would be a massive superstar. Heavywieght tick Succesful tick. as Brits any real success is jumped upon i would say the only REALLY succesful boxer of recent times that this country hasn't raved about is probably Clinton Woods tbh fought some big names won a title. apart from that any success and victories over big names would overshadow his style or lack of.

I'd never support him, his style over the years has been a disgrace.

The guy had a good record but he was an awful fighter. He feasted on an era of slow, fat, overmuscled, out of shape guys who came to loser and failed to fight.

Interesting thought. Never really crossed my mind, but he definitely would be quite well recognized, more due to the resume than his actual fighting style.

Then again, personality has a big influence. Clinton Woods has a respectable resume as well, but isn't as famous as he might have been with the right amount of promotion.

We love the gallant loser, who epically loses, a la Tim Henman/Bruno/Eddie the Eagle.

We dont like flab buckets holding there way to a snorefest loss.

I believe Bruno would have smashed him.

Bruno was unlucky that he was around when there were plenty of other very good heavyweights, and also that the WBO wasn't really a recognised title

Bruno would have been one of the top heavyweights of this era if he had been born 20 years later.

Hell, he would probably have been a heavyweight version of Calzaghe (The Warren cash cow WBO champ, never leaving Britain etc) if he had been born 10 years later.

This is a good thinking thread...

I think in Britain Ruiz would have really caught on...He acheived his titles, he was a very tough durable opponent and I agree with the other posters who have said we love a gallant loser...:yep

I think that if Warren has options on Katsidis he will really catch on over here, I might be way off, this maybe the start of another thread...:think
