Don't know, Froch has a good media personality and an exciting style yet not many people know him. Being a heavyweight world champion and fighting names like Holyfield would have helped though.

 

I agree with this. He's humble as well and most Brit's will only take to a humble guy that barely speaks! lmaoo.

 

Don't know about barely speaks but I always think a classic example of a quite humble guy who British fans don't revere but would love if he was British is Tim Bradley.

- both got no power

But there is no deny Ruiz has an effective style, it wasnt everyone cup of tea but it got the job done. Who would of thought after being iced by Tua he would end up having a far better career than Tua the exciting puncher.

Mental note for Tony, perhaps adopting the quiet mans approach to build ups and packing in the woooos(after knocking out a 43 year old called valerie) and the I won dats and the public would take to you more, I mean after an evenings punditry even your harshest critics admit your alright

Tony, would you consider having a fight(s) at Heavyweight before the end of your career?

 

I don't think he'd have been as successful, especially as we'd have tried to match him with Lennox for an 'all british' title fight, and if he lost heavily it could really have set him back.

 

He would be better thought of and certainly have a bigger fanbase, we Brits do get behind our fighters, especially successful fighters against 'Johnny foreigner'. It is much easier to be a big fish in a relatively small pond over here, so any truly elite (World champions) fighters achievements are even more magnified. No boxing fan is truly objectionable, we are fans not historians.

BTW tony, I hope you and Cleverly can get it on, I feel almost dirty saying it but starting to lean towards you in that particular fight, something about his face that is really annoying me

Nah I'm not having it bomber he was good and probably under rated at times but just don't think he was exciting enough to watch to really engage the public to make him the 'loved' gallant loser. You've got too much time on your hands now you aren't worrying about what your havin for your dinner haha

As for Ruiz, he'd definitely be a much bigger name had he been British. His style wasn't the most pleasing on the eye, but it was effective to an extent and he does have a good few names on his record... Sky PPV would have lapped it up against the likes of Holyfield, Rahman & Jones.
