John Ryder born 7/19/1988 is a 5'9 Middleweight with a 28-4 16 KO's record. Ryder is from Islington, London, United Kingdom and is promoted by Hearn and Matchroom. Ryder in my estimation is one of the more underrated MW's currently fighting out of the UK, Murray while decent is overrated and struggled against an old and shot Sergio and Felix, Macklin is done Sergio and GGG finished him, Eubank Jr. is good but is being vastly overhyped, Adam Etches is a decent but crude fighter asking to be KO'd. The best Middleweight in the UK at the moment is Billy Joe Saunders. And of all the matches BJS has had, the closest was with Ryder, it handed John his first loss, but it was a damn close fight and could have easily been a draw. He's certainly an exciting fighter to watch his compact style in the ring is reminiscent of his nickname. So Check Out The Gorilla and make up your own mind whether or not he's got the goods or not. While he may ultimately not prove to be a world beater it's definitely too soon to write him off just yet. :ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

called the gorilla in the gym because he has a beast strength, but not beast power. but he is very solid fighter, and his head is a big square, no chin problems there.

Unfortunately even solid fighters aren't good enough for a lot of fans anymore, they all must have the air of invincibility. Which he doesn't but he's real good.

he would beat eubanks jr imo right now, and if he threw more vs billy joe saunders he could of nicked it or got a draw, he had stamina till the end but relunctant to throw.

do one on paul butler mate :thumbsup

No use saying he could've, would've, should've etc.the fact is he didn't. Yes he is good, but for me he lacks the extra gears, the power, versatility etc to be really top class.
Bit like Martin Murray..remember how we now know Sergio was there for the taking, Murray just couldn't go up throught the gears and seal the deal as they say.

Very likeable man though Ryder, and I wish him every success.

Who dares to fight a man that rides gorillas? Besides the Triple Gorilla of course...

I do like Ryder and the BJS fight was a *******. Myself I feel he ain't gonna progress much past national or euro level with his pace and skills, but he's tough as hell and you know you're gonna get a fight out of him.

    War Gorilla!:yikes

(now... how would one go about training an actual Gorilla to box instead of just pulling his opponents arms off like a pesky insect?:think)

That's not too far off from what I think, he's legit but no world beater. But its possible he'll become the next Murray or Macklin level guy.
