For me, BJS is going to pick up a world title. Ryder will be picking up a european and be a fringe contender. Eubanks jr drastically needs to change is mentality and footwork if he wants to succeed, or he wont go far. if you put eubanks jr in with a hard puncher whilst he leaves himself completely open and reaching for shots, he will be knocked out.
No doubt when John Ryder gets a world ranking he'll be another one who won't fight anybody decent and risk his ranking. To be honest the Smith brothers are guilty of going down the artificial ranking route atm. Paul Smith: Beats a faded Tony Dodson and then say's he won't fight any body with a pulse until he gets his title shot. Stephen Smith: Beats Buckland and say's the same. He won't fight a proper super-featherweight now unless it's a world title fight. Liam Smith: He beats Erick Ocheing then a couple of Welterweight journeymen and now their talking about "world level" because he's due a mandatory. Callum Smith: Apparently he's to good for British and Euro level even though he hasn't proved he's top 5 or 6 in Britain. But he's a world ranked fighter ! To be fair the Smiths are just an example and are not the only ones avoiding fights IMO.
Cracking fight this! Not sure who would win if I'm honest, but Eubank needs a few more decent tests before taking on someone like Ryder. Has a few technical flaws to iron out before stepping up, I had Eubank beating BJS but regardless of that I think with some proper training and some good corner work I believe he could beat Ryder
You cant criticise Callum Smith, what is he supposed to do? His brother is British champion and then Groves was European champion when his last fight was made and Groves has no interest in taking a tough fight when he has a world title fight coming up soon.
Paul Smith should have been stripped of the British title by now as he's went nearly 18 months without defending the belt. They're plenty of fighters available to fight P Smith or for the vacant title in Rocky Fielding, Callum, Frank Buglioni, Mark Heffron, Lee Markham, David Brophy and Tom Baker. Callum Smith should have to beat some of these guys as well before he gets a sniff at World level, but he's skipped the traditional route of the British, Commonwealth, European straight into a top 15 World ranking. All this cutting corners is bad for the sport.
It's sure a good thing your not a boxing judge then. On topic, at present I'd say Ryder Close decision.
You are 100% correct, so many fighters bypass domestic level and jump straight to world level without fighting anyone decent. Brian Rose and Anthony Crolla are more examples. Billy Joe Saunders is someone who has earned his title shot imo, beat a lot of domestic guys and then won the European title, that's how it should be done.
