Reported by Charles Sims that Matchroom has initiated talks with GGG about getting this made for later this year, possibly in Kazakhstan.

Neither man currently holds any hardware and both are coming directly off unanimous decision losses to common foe Santos Saúl Álvarez Barragán (with Golovkin challenging for all four of Canelo's unified super middleweight championships last September, and Ryder then doing the same this past May) - but they both enjoy a high enough ranking to make this easily wrangled into an eliminator of some kind. Golovkin held three belts at middleweight this same time last year (the WBA Super, the IBF, and the IBO), but has vacated them all - indicating that if he does battle on it will likely be at SMW, be it for the paydays or due to weight-making constraints on the now 41 year old, who last clocked 160lbs in April of 2022 after having more or less consistently done so every few months since 2006.

I suspect this could be a very entertaining affair, but would for the loser represent a nigh insurmountable setback. GGG could maybe still eke out a big name match-up or two following a defeat, but with severely diminishing returns on moving the hype or financial needle. Ryder, a hard-ridden 34, might not be able to rally off a pair of consecutive losses, particularly if the road's toll combined with his opponent's power see him dropped or stopped.

I don't think GGG will fight anyone unless he's offered huge amount of money. Ryder fight won't generate any revenue, because nobody is interested in Ryder. So, this fight won't happen.

On the other hand, GGG wins this by KO, because Ryder is static and slow, just like GGG likes 'em.

Yeah, I don't think Golovkin will fight Ryder, but if he does I think he will win.

    Sum common opponents:

    • Santos Saúl Álvarez Barragán - defeated Ryder via UD a couple of months ago, and Golovkin via UD last September as well as via MD in 2018 with a split draw in 2017.
      (Ryder 0-1, Golovkin 0-2-1)
    • Daniel Jacobs - lost to Golovkin via UD in 2017, and to Ryder via SD in 2022.
      (Ryder 1-0, Golovkin 1-0)
    • Siarhei Khamitski - lost to Golovkin via TKO5 in 2007, and to Ryder via UD in 2016.
      (Ryder 1-0, Golovkin 1-0)
Gorilla is officially 2-1 and Golovkin 2-2-1 (1) versus their mutual rivals.
