i rear sly comment on decisions....but last night a valid winner was blatantly robbed in a British ring on sky tv. I knew jack at field was a real threat to Ryder from his performance against Blackwell. I expected him to do well but he lost clearly. Ryder handled him pretty well. Jack really only had success with the jab. Which given his height and reach is only to be expected. Ryder hit him with left and right head and body almost at will at times. Very very bad decision.
From what I seen it was close but would have gum oven it to Ryder. The thing that made me think twice is Ryder's body language after the fight. There were no celebrations or smiles, which straight away told me he didn't think he'd got it. The fighters are the ones in the ring and know how a fights gone.
I thought Ryder won but is there anyone who wants to see him fight again? I find his fights incredibly difficult viewing.
Not entirely sure how Ryder is hanging onto his Matchroom contract. He doesn't look to have what it takes to hang in and around British level. I thought it was close last night- tricky to score as Arnfield is rangy.
nepotism ˈnɛpətɪz(ə)m/ noun noun: nepotism the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.
The fight was not close nor hard to score. Basically jack landed only jabs....and given his height and reach advantages that doesn't count for much. Ryder clearly out scored him with both hands to head and body. Whether Ryder is world class and whether people would pay to see him again is not the point. He won the fight.
so your saying being hit by the jab doesn't matter? If jack landed 100 jabs and john 90 head and body shot jack should win?
In your opinion he won the fight. It was close, I had it a draw. Ryder basically gave the last few rounds up like he always does and this time it cost him. He wasn't even blowing. Unless you leave everything in the ring then your leaving yourself open to not getting the decision. Ryder was technically the superior boxer but his OWN lack of output was what let him down.
So you're saying a fighter with huge height and reach advantage should get the decision based on jabs alone? This one move should trump his opponents demonstration of a far wider range of boxing skills? Come on Billy.
I did find this decision a head scratcher to be honest. Arnfield plinked away with jabs, straights and the odd uppercut but Ryder for me landed the better punches throughout, at a range where he was most comfortable. I can't find enough rounds for Arnfield to justify giving him the fight.
Exactly what I'm saying if he lands more punches he wins the fight, example Damian Kelly great boxer relied hugely on his jab and won British titles with that punch
IF..IF Billy. BUT the point is he didn't. I know there are many examples of boxers putting on a masterclass of jabbing.....and basically winning the fight on jabs alone. We all know that. But that's not what happened last night. NOT the case here. Jack lost last night and got a gift, Ryder was better all round. I just wonder why? I dont know how you can't see that Ryder was better in fairness.
