seen on boxrec that hearn has suggested he move down to light middle. does anyone know how realistic this is? good style, educated pressure with his chin tucked in...could be a genuine beast at the weight. any thoughts?
Might be a bit of struggle though to take off 6 lbs because he doesnt excactly look small for Middleweight id like to see him stay and fight Tom Baker eventaully in a good all London tear up. Rumours hes looking for a fight with Eubank Jr are circulating too.
if i was him though id stay at middleweight why leave a weight class where you are doing well plus he boxed at u75kg in the ams and held his own with degale and groves in the nw divs he should look to move down in weight if things go pear shape but right now hesdoing well.
He is a talented lad, moving down in weight obviously depends if he makes middleweight easily. Obviously moving down would be good because he would have a decent size advantage at LM.
yeah but i always think if it aint broke dont fix it hes doing very well at the moment aint he 7 stoppages from 12 wins he could always use a step down in weight as a get me out of jail card if his career stalls a bit.
:deal100% agree Ryder i like the look of could go quite far at light middle but is often the case fighters will only change when things go wrong in a career. It comes down to how comfortable he is making weight against where he could be most affective for me. Billy Joe Saunders you can see should be operating at light middle he would do some serious damage.
Just because a boxer can make a certain weight it doesnt mean that it is the optimum weight for them to compete at look at Matthew Macklin, he admitted in the Ring magazine that he could still do light-middle but its not the best weight divison for him to peform and the evidence speaks for itself.
Seen him around my area quite often, he doesnt seem to walk around much above mw and his sister was telling me the other day about his healthy living...... Maybe hearn is right and it could propel him into european light middle scene quite quickly.
I'd say he'd be better at LMW, He fought a guy who got DQ'd and the difference in size was vast. He was doing ok, not exactly struggling but at LMW i think his punches would have more effect on opponents. Some Middleweights walk around like Light Heavy's out of camp etc..
That guy was sabie monteth or whatever his name his who got sparked by Fran Bugioloni in a round but he is a super-middleweight in essence, and alexandra park when you said you spoke to his sister about his healthy living does this mean it leaves alot to be desired?
I meant he never has to shed timber to make mw. Hes not a big middle and im guessing it wouldnt be a mountain to climb to male light middle. Maybe im totally wide of the mark
