I've just spoken with Ray Leonard and he says this fight not being for Ward's titles AND Dawson's title is absolute bull****!

    Hope you enjoy! :good

I'm actually surprised they didn't do that, Boxed! I mean there was the precedent you mentioned, and I think it would have just been an added dimension to their marketing strategy.

Of course I think the idea is horrendous, but that's why I'm so surprised they didn't try it.

    I did enjoy it :thumbsup

Does Dawson train year round normally? Scully mentioned how he used to train a little over 3 weeks in the past for his title defenses :blood

Well, the precedent started several decades before that if I'm not mistaken. I seem to recall Canzoneri and Ross fighting for the 135 and 140 titles at the same time, for instance. I just thought I'd randomly cheap-shot Leonard, if I'm honest. I know he must read these threads to see who loves him, the needy *******.

I think he keeps himself in really good shape. I think Iceman once mentioned to me that in between fights he rarely gets over 180-185. But just because he keeps himself trim, doesn't necessarily mean he keeps himself in stellar shape.

I can't say for sure, but I also believe he was referring to the Pascal fight specifically.

Now if that's true, Chad has no one to blame for himself.

    Anyway, thank you for listening!
    :thumbsup

I genuinely am extremely fired-up for this match-up!! Can't wait!

Thanks for clearing that up. Chad does look like a guy who doesn't balloon up between fights too much. I'm looking forward to it too. Chad shouldn't be taken so lightly.
And no prob, I enjoyed listening

I've torn myself. I have always believed that Ward would beat Dawson. But the last week or so, I'm having second thoughts. The main reason I always favored Ward was because of (A) ring IQ, and (B) Chad's lapses in focus. Chad, however, remained focus against a crafty fella who shares many similarities with Andre in Bernard. I'm starting to believe Chad is going to be right in this. Andre once mentioned to me in an interview that it took him awhile to adjust in his fight with Bika. If it takes him 5 or 6 rounds to make that type of necessary adjustment with Chad, it could be too late. I'm leaning towards Dawson in a close one now.

This fight is a horrible puzzle. Both fighters are extremely talented and Dawson is a bit of a Pandora box. You never now when he will put it all together in a great performance. In the same time it is so hard to bet against a guy like Ward that always finds a way to win.

and after the fight they will say i'm moving back to lhw. 168 just isn't a weight i felt comfortable at. but ward wouldn't move to 170 so i took it anyways.

    I really enjoyed that.
Scully could well be my favourite trainer right now and he's a big reason my dislike of Chad has thawed considerably.
I know that you very rarely hear of a fighter having a bad camp before a big fight and it's always the proverbial "best camp ever" but Scully has a rare honesty and I think he'd come out and say if there were any concerns.
    Thanks Rumsfeld.Always enjoy The Iceman.
