Given Simpson has got a fairly comfortable(ish) defence of his Celtic title coming up on Burns/Mitchell undercard. But look at his record (i've just recently picked up his career set) - he's a proper throwback, fight anyone, anywhere fighter. His record looks like a who's who of recent Featherweight/Super Featherweight domestic stars (Smith, Lindsay, Appleby, Truscott, Selby, Morris, Mathews, Williams, Foster Jnr) He's had 14 twelve rounders! Plenty of title fights. Look at his record since he first fought Dazzo Williams for the british in 2004 - Theres barely any keep busy fights from then on mostly title fights! Been in some cracking fights. Been shafted/robbed a few times (Williams was the worst in his first title tilt), and has lost quite a few very close decisions (both Smith fights, Appleby etc) Seems to live the life, just get on with it, doesn't whinge when things go his way, always good to watch. Deserves a helluva lot of respect if you ask me.
everybody loves john simpson. tough little ****er, always in good fights! been very unlucky as well. i thaught he was robbed against williams, he defo beat smith first fight, closer the second time but i thaught he just won that also. i dnt know what the judges were on when he faught derry mathews, with the points deductions he defo won that fight. the first appleby fight could have went eather way. i think johns had 9 defeats, imo he should prob only have 4 defeats on his record with maybe a couple of draws.
