Awesome yeah, I imagine he'll merit a place as one of the finest boxers I ever had the privilege of watching in person, even if it was for only 2 and a half minutes!

 

Simpson-Munroe would be an excellent fight, I'd love to see that. Could turn into a real war.

Against the two massive prospects, I'd favour him more vs Quigg. I think he would just cause him all sorts of problems a.l.a Stephen Smith and give him by far his toughest nights work.

Frampton would also have a great test in John but I see his power being in equalizer here. I doubt he would stop Simpson but it would certainly slow him in his tracks if he was hit by a large amount of powerful punches.

Saying that, I'd pick all 3 to beat Simpson, all on points

I hope he gets an opportunity straight away at the weight because for me he has enough to beat the rest of them fairly comfortably

Not read the replies but me and Mandz had a yarn about this before.

Mandy had em em all tee'd up, his knowledge was pretty tight......or ok maybe mine is slack ( i would go with the latter)

My only small concern was his working with the weight given age, hence ma sound out with Mandz and others.

For him to be back given the upsets in his career is one thing, to be willing to drop weight (after his break) in his quest is pretty damn impressive.

Zactly, i saw him win the Scots Ams then a few weeks later glide home to the Junior.....or under 18 or whatever it was.....sorry.......home nations, Jr and Sr Light Welter champ of Britain................QUALITY !!!!!!!!

I was down hoping for a cancelation on an Army Vs Scotland bill, Anderson was headlining, he came in and blew them away.........sure he could...........but it was truly clinical.


His bro was a heavy, not too special if i remember (in general ESB standards) yet came back after a break......dunno bout him.

For some reason i always think of McGuire training him (probs wrong)........he worked the corner for the Manchester Comms...looked the Stoney type......


Dont see his son doing much now either.

macdonald was a class am think he was the last person to beat kevin mitchell,think he gets cut to easy i heard he went bact to the ams .

 

It's all about how John makes the weight if he still carries strength and feel's good at weight he beats em all at present. He's accomplished and steady and fringe world class IMO at FW. I think the Munroe fight is toughest to pick as that's down to what comes from within it be a war of attrition but John's super strong and underrated for his actual punching. Many look at his heart and workrate but he is very strong fundamentally. Jab and right hand and nice strong body shots.

Rendall Munroe:Both men rely on high punch output and grinding there man down. Rendall heavily relies on his sheer size and strength to break hearts of opponents. I believe John would handle his size with well and i think his punches are technically better and crisper but his work never seems to get acknowledged by judges. It would be a close fight but i do believe John would win via a SD. Just think fact he's fought bigger men and hurt them as well as fact he can match Rendall's work rate and more quality shots would see him win. Rendall needs to get into a flow and for a southpaw never really makes it pay. It's Munroe's Arruum Punches vs Simpson's Solid Punches

Scott Quigg:Quigg for a lad who hasn't had many fights in sport Am/Pro is a nice compact puncher. I think John's experience and work rate and steady grinding style would test Quigg. I think a motivated John wins this one in second half of fight he takes over and his sheer determination would hurt Quigg. Simpson UD

Jason Booth: Jason's finished i'm sorry to say (huge fan) he's been finished for a good year IMO. He looked poor against Marsh and Molitor he run out of steam and hurt the hand but looked on way to title after 4 rounds. Against Martinez he couldn't handle the size nor the pressure and his punches didn't have enough pomp to keep the raging bull of him. I think Simpson would be steady and effective and break Jason down to body and could see Tony Harris pulling Jason in that one around 9th round. Simpson TKO/RTD

Jamie Arthur: Arthur is a big SBW and works his socks off but doesn't have enough to beat Simpson in any area. Simpson is strong and works at a steady pace but throws a bundle of good quality punches. I think after 4 competitve rounds Simpson would take over and would break Arthur's will who would hang on to final bell. Wide UD for Simpson

Kris Hughes: Simpson Wins. I don't think Hughes is great and sat Ringside when Arthur beat him. He didn't look like he wanted it and i believe he would be stopped mid to late by Simpson.

Carl Frampton: Carl's a good fighter who i think can go a long way but if this fight was to happen next up i'd go with Simpson. I think his size and strength would help him take Frampton's power and his high guard and stalking style would make Carl work and i think Carl's still be green in area's that won't allow him to win a twelve round title fight against a man like Simpson. Simpson beat a damn good champion at FW in Lindsay i think he would thrive on chance to fight in Belfast again. Simpson would win UD.


Willie Casey:Great fight but John has bit to much to his game to lose to Willie who remains bit one dimensional and think John would get grip of fight from 3rd or 4th and start to hurt Willie with straight punches and slow him to body and rock him badly late on.
