Junior Thompson was another, defended his Aust title against Fenech in Jeff's 3rd fight from memory.
Ronnie Doo is training amateurs at Monaco St PCYC on the Gold Coast. Still loves his boxing. Top bloke Ronnie!

..I was gunna drop my great old mate Junior Thompsons name...he fought in 4 weight divisions..defended his title a week apart..
..a great all action fighter from the 'ville..
..and he took the Fenech fight on 3 weeks notice too...he could've gone all the way but had abit of a reluctance to train..haha

Ernie and Dale Artango, Renato Cornett and Shane Knox. Would of all won national titles today easily, also would of done well with all the regional titles.

Enjoying this thread immensely. A welcomed change to most of the garbage here these days. Ernie Artango is a funny one. Retired or basically didn't fight again while ranked #2 by the IBF at Light Middleweight while Campas and Vargas were champs. Dale still trains boxers.

..in my mind..we can't mention Gary Wills name without mentioning Pat Stone's name..
..it was Wills who Stoney beat to claim the QLD lightheavyweight title then collasped in the ring and would never regain consciousness..this
was back in 1990..RIP Pat Stone..NQ legend..

Some names in there that I haven't heard for years. There were some dead set wars in the 80's and 90's in Australian rings and some ****ing good fighters around too. Great thread this one!!

Sorry mate, I'm not Scooter, nor do I have anything to do with Scorpio Lodge. I'm just a keen supporter and follower of boxing.

Doug Sam was a gun though, fought for an IBF Super middleweight world title and got stopped on cuts in the 15th round while he was up on points. Rumor I heard was that he drank a bottle of scotch the night before the fight to calm his nerves.
