Intriguing fight. Tate was the better more seasoned fighter but Brewestr really had a game changing left hook and was one of the tougher/more durable heavyweights of his era. I see either a points win for the former Olympic bronze medalist Tate or a late KO win via a left hook by Brewster. I'm going to give Tate the benefit of the doubt and say he wins vis decision or possibly late stopage. I typically go with the guy with the more complete amauter background and in this case, that is certainly Tate.
I agree. Tate on a decision. Tate, unfortunately, is always remembered as being chinny. And he was, but not until after the 15th round KO by Weaver. He suffered that cerebral shock that fighters don't recover from like O'Grady after Ganigan or Curry after McCallum. But prior to that, Tate handled everything from Coetzee, Knoetzee, Bobick, Mercado and 14 1/2 rounds from Weaver. So, prime for prime, Tate boxes beautifully and wins a very comfortable decision over Brewster.
