There was only one winner IMO. Thain controlled it with his jab. Heffron kept coming and deserved a 10/10 for effort, but Thain did more than enough. Plus the ref took a point from Heffron, but still scored it to him :huh

The ref is a total **** and yeah i can see why the Thain is thinking about quitting because he clearly won that fight, but ended up losing. Plus his promotional team don't seem to give a f*ck about him as well since their not interested in giving him the rematch.

Just watched the fight again there on Boxnation and John Thain won that fight.

I think FW promotions should get Thain out again soon and build a bit of momentum with him because he could be a star.

I thought in the first couple of rounds Ronnie showed he had improved slightly since the defeat to Denton Vassell but John took control and had the cleaner work from the 4th round on and started to make Ronnie look quite crude!! You could tell he was getting beat because he was getting so frustrated and started complaining to the ref and getting annoyed with himself!!

If fights are just to be scored on coming forward and pressing without actually hitting any clean punches ( I thought boxing was the sweet science?) then the sport I love an dedicate so much of my life to is really going down the toilet!!

Don't get annoyed John just carry on working hard, learning and I'm sure the big nights and wins will come because there was only 1 real winner tonight !!

Never saw the fight so I can't comment on the decision. Would be disappointing if Thain packs it in, he is one of the nicest guys in boxing, met him a few times. He would speak to anybody, as nice as they come. He lacks power which will eventually catch up with him as his opposition increases, but he is still improving all the time, and has the reach, height and speed to cause problems for many fighters. Hope he sticks at it and gets a rematch with Heffron.

He was robbed. Fair play to John though he knew he was the winner at the end, at the same time he congratulated Ronnie on getting the decision.
That was the best performance iv'e seen from Thain and he also came across a good boy at the end and it would be a real shame if that was the last we seen of him, but he said he was going to go away and think about it?
Hopefully that was just heat of the moment from him, but he will need to get some kind of reassurance from his promotional team about dates in the future.
A wish him all the best.

i wonder if John would consider a change in management? It seems that Frank doesn't seem that interested in pushing him imo. John could be done with fighting more regularly and in shows in Scotland if possible, I'm sure with all of the guys from terry's gym they could put together shows to showcase John ?

Yeah hopefully it was just a heat of the moment thing, everyone who has been robbed has felt like chucking it but unfortunately it is part of the boxing game. Yeah well said, I wish John all the best as well.

I don't know what fight you were guys watching :!: I had it shutout after 7 rounds for Hefron but Thain came back strong in late rounds. He did absoluteny nothing in those middle rounds, Heffron cut the ring and punished him to the body time after time. Thain was just running and tried to keep Heffron off with his jab but couldn't do it most of time. He had a nice movement but it was Hefron who was getting trough his jab and getting him trapped on the ropes.

Last three rounds were excellent by Thain. He won 9 ja 10 rounds CLEARLY and I have no idea why he didn't fight like that earlier.

Seriously mate of coarse your entitled to your opinion but based on what you've wrote I'd say you were a mile out in your assesment.
John won the fight and Ronnie I'm sure knows he lost, no way should John stop boxing, I'd like to add John is a gentleman in and out the ring

Yes. No need to fuss about who really won after seeing that.

And what a bad sport Heffron is. Jesus, wouldn't even look at Thain after the fight. As soon as Heffron amazingly gets the decision, oh very gracious then. Left a really bad taste.
