Martinez with his hands down style in front of a relentless puncher like The Beast ????

Mediocre Barker broke his nose early and was giving him problems before he was stopped . Not to mention he went life and death with Matthew Macklin .

Ive always felt Martinez is a good fighter , yet hes always hitting the canvas in every big fight he has . His style is unique yet it also gets him into trouble at times .

You're going overboard about Mugabi at 168 though. Mugabi was too small to be a factor at 168. He was only like 5'8. He was a natural junior middleweight.

He'd have punched holes in Canelo though.

no, Mugabi wouldn't have beaten Martinez. Sergio would have been too fast and skilled for him.

    wide decision win.

everyone is going overboard with Mugabi in EVERY weight class. because he didn't beat anyone other than tin cans at any weight he fought at.

As fast and skilled Martinez is , Mugabi has the determination, aggression and power to take him out .

Sergio has been challenged by lesser fighters in Barker , and Macklin who was beating Martinez on the scorecards before he was stopped .

If Sergio thought Margarito was an animal who stopped him in 7 , he would have known the true definition of an animal in facing Mugabi .

I believe he can hold his own even @ 168 . Its not like theres currently any killers at Supermiddleweight . BTW He does not have to make the full limit of 168 .

Him being 5,8 wont be much of a factor . Montell Griffin was only 5,7 and he was once one of the top LightHeavyWeights @ 175 pounds .

Canelo vs Mugabi would have ended with Canelo after giving all he got refusing to come back out of his corner , that's how I picture that fight playing out .

Let's not forget the amazing advances in pacing and technical skills. Particularly footwork and in-fighting

Mugabi was just another garbage victim of Hagler.

That garbage victim would be having every top dog today wanting NOTHING to do with him . Quillin , Canelo , Cotto , Ward ETC would all be shooked .

    stop talking nonsense will you.

Mugabi was a strong fighter that had power. but outside of that, he had nothing else.

stop hyping up the guy just because Hagler beat him. he'd done nothing before, and he did nothing afterwards. that's just the simple truth of it.

Barker has a win over Geale that is much better than anything that Mugabi did.

Maklin beat Sturm but got ripped off. that's a better win than anything Mugabi did.

Sergio is just too good for someone as flatfooted as Mugabi. i mean, have you even seen Mugabi fight?? he's too slow. he'd be hit with most of the punches that Sergio threw.

Martinez lost to Margarito as a young en. no problem. he came back even better and became the champ at middle. something Mugabi was never good enough to win.

just compare their resumes. it's not even close. compare their skills. it's not even close.
