Ah, if it's a leaping leprechaun that you want to see, watch "Luck of the Irish" starring Tyrone Power & Cecil Kellaway. Dated but delightful entertainment.
just as a point of interest 4 of the main people involved in the movie, Wayne being the exception, had siblings that played parts in the movie. john ford maureen o hara ward bond barry fitzgerald
The more I read up on William Smith, the more fascinated I am by the guy. What a full and interesting life this guy has lived. Bodybuilder, boxer, arm wrestling champion, prolific character actor....The guy is fluent in five languages.....And he lives here in So. Cal. I'd love to meet him someday. I love the part he played in the Rockford Files pilot episode. The scene with him getting sucker-punched in the men's bathroom by Jim Garner is awesome!
Your not wrong about a full life semi-pro footballer and competed in motircross and downhill skiing and during the Korean War was a Russian intercept interrogator and flew secret missions over Russia
No, he is alive and well, having just turned 80 this year. He still looks to be in pretty solid shape!
Have you seen Darker Than Amber with William Smith and Rod Taylor . Great fight scene at the end..Hard film to get hold of.
Agree McGlaglen wouldn't have lost to John Wayne, with or without gloves.Apparently,he boxed Jack Johnson in a no decision bout. Also fought in the middle east in WWI.Jack Palance fought a draw with Joe Baksi, who beat Bruce Wood**** and Freddie Mills.Always thought William Smith was a latter day Palance, can hardly believe all the things he's supposed to have done.Whatever, you wouldn't want to upset him,one scary fella.Wouldnt want to be Nick Nolte if it was for real.
Nice one.Anybody remember Zora Folley, the Korean war veteran?Just a reminder to us of the futility of it all.
Funny thing is, as gravel-voiced and scary as Smith was in later years playing heavies, when he first broke in, he was a pretty boy, like John Derek
