I didn't even know who he was, so yes Seems a solid fighter from checking his BoxRec (sorry!), with the MD loss to Ayala looking interesting.
I'd seen his name on McCullough's record before. Literally never seen the guy outside of that though. So noway is he overrated.
When Johnny Bredahl was good, he was very good. He could box beautifully behind a long left jab and he could punch if he had to. Very good managed by Mogens Palle he had a fine record. Losses to McCollough and Ayala were okay, but he had a fine record on the European circuit. Unfortunatly he went down on weed and coke and is now in a bad way. His Brother Jimmi had not the same talent, but did well and is okay in life.
You can see how Mikkel Kessler's style was heavily influenced by Bredahl. Same stance, technique, movements, and jab. Just Kessler was a bigger hitter.
Haven't thought about the Bredahl boys in a long time. Johnny was way better. I remember Jimmi being a sacrificial lamb for DLH's first title. Both were featherfisted homeboys who stuck to their own backyards. Johnny compiled a nice career while Jimmi faded away quickly.
Featherfisted? Johnny had a about 50% ko ratio. Not that bad even if it was often soft american opposition. Jimmi Never really liked the sport.
I very vaguely remember him although never saw any of his fights. I remember Jimmy Bredahl better, but only because because he was a sacrifical stepping stone to Oscar De La Hoya's first 'world' title.
