John had a great reign as champion but I feel Famechon was a good bit better and stops John late here. Thoughts?
I'm of the opinion that Chris John is currently the most underrated fighter of the 21st century. He finished his 52 fight career with one loss. He had 18 successful title defenses. He didn't just beat unknown to Americans fighters from Asia. He beat Daud Yordan, Derrick Gainer, Rocky Juarez and, most importantly, Juan Manuel Marquez. He was a great fighter. Johnny Famechon was excellent as well. Two wins over the great, albeit aging, Fighting Harada is a bright mark on anyone's resume. He also topped Jose Legra to win a world title and fought a slew of solid Australian fighters. To be honest, I don't know enough about Famechon stylistically as compared to The Dragon but from a resume point of view I give the nod to John via decision, 9 rounds to 6 in a 15 round scrap.
