He was whipping Usyks ass before he gassed out, people either underrated Bellew or overrate Usyk. Keep in mind Bellew was washed up and made to boil himself down from HW back down to CW

Johnny Nelson actually personally dislikes Usyk for some reason, I don't know why. I remember in another interview he claimed Usyk was "An average Southpaw"

Bellew is a fine fighter and Usyk is off the textbook, and maybe this quote is something to do with what is technically orthodox boxing...but even then that seems pretty bizarre, fair enough. But maybe it's not so bad. Thinking with the aforementioned framing about what is orthodox boxing, you could say a bunch of people Sergio Martinez beat the snot out of were technically better than him, even if they were half the athlete.

Tony Bellew was a good fighter and that’s about it. Other then that he talks a lot and is often wrong with his assessments.

I would genuinely cut off one of my little fingers without anaesthetic to guarantee Usyk the win next month. Not because I hold any particular dislike towards AJ but because as a Brit I've had to deal with absolute clowns like Bellew and Nelson gleefully distorting the heavyweight narrative over the past half-decade. Even today with Fury and Usyk as the cut-above heavyweights, there are still legions of Sky Sports-consuming Deanos going to war in the comments sections of YouTube videos and Facebook posts about how AJ is this and that, with absolutely none of it backed up in the ring. I don't even care if Usyk loses his O to Fury or retires at 20-0 without the WBC, I just want to see Matchroom FC's final bunker cracking open once and for all
