Toney’s cruiser run was one of the best spells of his career. Despite his lack of height and reach, he really settled in that division. H2H he’s probably one of the best 190lbs cruisers ever, even if his resume doesn’t support that. Nelson had the tools to cause Toney problems, and he’d be a moving target compared to most of the guys Toney fought at the weight. The problem with picking Nelson is that he typically wasn’t great when he didn’t have all the cards in his favour. While his title run was pretty dominant, he had a lot of problems with Jones, and was behind against Sellars. While it never got as bad as it did against Warring and De Leon, the old negativity was still prone to coming out. You have to think at some point Toney starts to time him and walks him down. Nelson wasn’t an easy guy to stop, even at heavy, so he might well last the distance though.
