The Nelsom that handled Thompson would beat ANY version of a CW Haye. Any.

    This.

This is the story i came across as well. Something to do with Naz promising Nelson a big time contract through some of his connections. Only for Nelson to find out it was lies.

That kidnapping story sounds like a load of ****e.

If it was a falling out over a contract to fight in the states for money, Nelson has only himself to blame.

It's not as if he was going to get a contract because of how exciting he was was it?

His 20-1 streak was largely down to ******s matchmaking.

Why did Thompson never get a rematch after the first fight was ended with a poor stoppage?

Nelson seems like a nice guy and I like his punditry but as a boxer he wasn't anything special really. I mean he was a "World Champion" but the WBO was not a serious title back then, no-one cared about it and like other WBO champs, he defended it against pretty average fighters at best. He also had an extremely negative and boring style which didn't help either.

Johnny is a smart guy - he didn't fall for any of that contract talk.
