I always wondered why a rematch between those 2 never happened considering their fight was close and very competitive. It was a very heated grudge match between 2 fighters from the same city, the fight lived up to the expectation, and it warranted another fight. Was there a reason why a rematch never took place?

It was competitive but I thought Tapia won the fight pretty clearly without any doubt personally.

I mean I guess there could've been a rematch, but I think Tapia clearly proved he was the better fighter and won clearly out boxing Romero.

I personally had Tapia winning 7-5 the last time I watched it. Good fun bout and skillfully fought. I think it was competitive enough for them to run it back.

Would have been fun to see it again. I remember kicking off work early and taking over a cocktail lounge in a Mexican restaurant in Seattle with a bunch of friends and the local Mexican fight fans. Everyone got trashed. It was a great time and a really good fight.

I thought the deal was that they quashed their feud and became very, very close personal friends and that's why a second fight didn't happen.

Had no idea that they became tight after the fight. Amazing.
