How does this match up play out? Could Tapia use his superior speed and boxing ability against a whirlwind like Fenech?
Both weren't really big punchers but had a punchers mentality and were offensive minded for the most part. Would have been an absolute war.

Yeah, it would have been a war. I like Fenech here. The kind of pressure he brought to bear on opponents was something fierce, and his mentality was that of a psychopath. His stamina was off the charts and he could work all night.

I like Tapia and he was a very gifted fighter, but he had so many out-of-the-ring problems that he was often not in absolute prime mental condition. I think he'd find out that he can't really hurt Jeff or match him for workrate, but I can see Tapia giving Fenech some pretty rough moments in there.

Still, he is not going to deter Fenech for long periods, I don't believe. In a pretty thrilling contest, I can see Fenech winning a reasonably close but clear decision.

Definitely a very fun offensive fight to watch, but Jeff is far too strong for Tapia.

    Fenech by clear UD.
