It was. The memory of it not being so was probably helped along by the ever-neutral HBO commentary, with particular reference to the Lederman scorecard. Still, I think Tapia did enough to edge it, despite his posturing/showboating in the last couple of rounds.
As the years went by, the HBO spin machine made it seem as if Tapia had put some kind of Locche-Fuji masterclass on Romero, when you're right... the fight was dead even until the last few rounds where Tapia edged it out.
