I thought the first one could've gone either way. I thought Ayala did well early on and did enough to earn a decision but Tapia had his moments as well. A close fight I scored for Ayala the first time I saw it and have wavered a lot since. I thought Tapia took the 2nd one though. Close but clear.
It holds a place in my heart because I watched it whilst it was happening. I've been a fan of this sport for 3-4 years, I'm situated in the UK. I don't get to see many great fights as they are happening. Trust me.
Inetersting story about Tapia prior to that fight. He'd just found out that his mother's murderer had been killed himself while he was drunk and got ran over by a car... so Tapia never got to see the man and deal out justice for himself which sent him into a deep depression. By the time of the fight Johnny said he had nothing but vicious intentions of fighting so that's why he tore into Ayala in that fight so hard.. and or course, Ayala was game himself. Just look at Tapia's men mug for this fight. He meant all business.
