How does Johnny Tapia handle Gonzalez or Estrada @ 115lbs? Would he be able to handle the constant pressure of Chocolatito, the technical skills of Gallo, or the brute strength and power of Sor Rungvisai? He would have made it an exciting fight against these three. He has the workrate, speed, reflexes, aggression, and skills to brawl or box with Chocolatito, Estrada, and Sor Rungvisai. But could he beat either of them on his best night?

Edit: Decided to add Sor Rungvisai into this thread.

I think he beats them both more often than not. A fight between he and Estrada would be a great action bout, but this is a guy who soaked up everything prime Barrera had up at Featherweight in his mid 30s. Clearly proved his superiority against the harder hitting Romero in a technical slug fest at 115. Gave Konadu a boxing lesson at Bantamweight.

Gonzalez in particular is out of his depth, in my opinion. Tapia was like a superpowered Cuadras. Never a dynamic puncher, though, despite the obvious conviction he put in his shots. Kinda like a little Gavilán in that regard.

I think Tapia would get widely outhit by both. There is a severe gulf in quality by my eye.

Gonzalez was great, but not at 115. Even in his razor close win against Cuadras or the controversial loss against Sor Rungvisai. You didn’t get the sense that he was the better man in either fight. Just the smaller man with the bigger heart that might be enough to pull it off on the cards for this one fight. Then the rematch with SSR proved that. Good on him for his comeback against Yafai, but that just further proved his heart and resolve, not his abilities. Sometimes that’s enough. Unless the bigger, more versatile man has every bit as much of it, to go with a better chin.

I saw him the better man in both fights.

And even if I didn't against Wangek, Wangek is a lethal 115lb fighter who I would also pick to beat Tapia. Gonzalez deserved the decision there. He would outweave most guys at 115lbs. Need to stop him to beat him and I don't see it...been wrong before though.

    This.

Tapia, exciting fighter, but also one of the most overrated fighters in history.

I'd say he's vastly UNDERRATED. Sizzling hand speed.
Cement chin. Huge heart. Great boxing IQ. Threw punches in bunches. Can box when he wants but will gladly go toe to toe.
I mean I thought he beat Paulie to be honest.
