    I never said Langford was green when they met simply he was much smaller then in his prime the exact same argument you made for Johnson when discussing his lose against Choynski who himself was no giant so hardly giving up massive weight.

    You keep mentioning Jeannette last lose to Johnson yet you listed all of their fights not just the last the first Jeannette like 5 fights mostly losses I can check but its in that ball park might be less. Johnson can't get a buy because he was small (against a man no larger then him) and green yet when Langford was giving up an even bigger weight difference and Jeannette even less experience its ignored.

    Langford was estimated anywhere from 156 to160lbs for the Johnson fight. Moyle states his best weight was 175/180lbs, let's take the lowest weight 156lbs.That puts him19lbs below his best weight.Yes?
    Johnson's estimated weight was 185lbs.Johnson declared the best shape he was ever in was for the Jeffries fight 9 years later ,for which fight he weighed 208lbs.So he was 23lbs below his best weight .Yes? Do you agree? The problem you cannot circumvent is Langford had 56 fights when he took on Johnson, whereas Johnson had only10 fights when he fought 69 fight Choynski! That is not a level playing field ,no matter how you try to spin it!

    Langford,Jeannette,and McVey all improved after they lost to Johnson Johnson went on to win the world title. Do you think it possible he also improved?
    Or do you think his development stopped after he beat them?

    And Marvin Hart. In 1905, I'd favor Hart over Langford, or Jeannette.

    Please. Langford was just 20, and clearly had a lot more room to grow into his body. How many heavyweights did Langford beat before he meet Johnson that were over 180 pounds?

    We've been over this before, Johnson had 20+ fights when he meet Choynski and was iced cold.

    The fact is Langford gave up 30lbs to Johnson and Jack didn't even give up any weight to Choynski. The numbers between the fight weight and later on optimal weight might be in Johnson favor however Langford was at a greater disadvantage when he fought Johnson then when Jack fought Choynski size wise.

    Of course they improved after the losses all of them which is exactly my point doing straight numbers win/loses doesn't give you a true indication of the fights. You keep making excuse for Johnson losses but when the same is said for his wins you refuse to accept it. Under your logic Choynski 1 - 0 Johnson no details need be mentioned like you did for Johnson's wins.

    If Johnson vs Langford and Johnson vs Jeanette is a level playing field which you initially claimed when I said the opposition and you called bollocks then using the same logic Johnson vs Choynski is a level playing field. You can't use one logic (purely numbers) to make your point and dispute it when your point is shown as invalid.

    Minotauro,

    Mcvey is a clown. He doesn't learn. I wish you good luck.

    • Langford, but 20 and an estimated 156 pounds when he met Johnson.

    • McVey - Just a teenager and green without many fights when he fight Johnson.

    • Jeannette - No amateur experience, turned pro late for the time, and had a losing or .500 type of record for many of the fights with Johnson.

    For Langford's height the natural limit of fat free mass would be around 160Ibs. That's a FFMI of around 25, which is thought to be around the limit for naturals, but even a lot of steroid users don't get that high.But given he was a boxer, not a weight lifter, and getting to that FFM requires a ton of leg muscle, and elite muscle building genetics, I doubt he could even get close to that.

    If you assumed that average FFMI of a non steroid using bodybuilder (which is probably generous), of just under 22, and a bodyfat of 15%, which is reasonable, but not even really lean, that'd still put him at only around 167Ibs.

    That would be taking on trust that the decision rendered in the Johnson v Hart fight was the correct one.
    That is far from a given!

    When I saw you had posted here I thought for a moment you were going to produce all those offers of$30,00 to defend against Jeannette,McVey ,& Langford that you say Johnson refused! How silly of me.
    1.Langford a veteran of 56 fights when he fought Johnson.19lbs below his best weight whereas Johnson was23lbs below his.
    2.McVey was a leading contender for the title208lbs of muscle and Jim Jeffries refused to fight him despite being offered a substantial guarantee.Big Sam had 26 known fights when Johnson knocked him out after dominating him throughout the fight.
    3.Johnson had no amateur experience you muppet! Jeannette had 20 fights under his belt when Johnson beat him for the last time.Jeannette was 4 weeks off of 27 years old.
    Climb back in your box hater!

    I don't know how many men of180lbs he had met and neither do you! I do know he had 56 fights under his belt that would represent a long career today.
    How many heavyweights had Mike Spinks fought when he challenged Holmes?
    John Henry Lewis when he challenged Louis?
    I'll give you 2 heavyweights that I know he had beaten when he fought Johnson .

    Jeannette in his last fight they had met before and Black Fitzsimmons. Thats three for certain .
    Now let's look at this weight disparity a little closer ,since you keep harping on it.

    If we take the differential as 156/1660lbs, lets go for 156lbs against 185lbs that gives us a difference of 19lbs,advantage to Johnson correct?

    Now let us examine the weight advantages your White Hero Jim Jeffries had against his opponents.

    Weight advantage to Jeffries
    Sharkey = 27lbs
    Fitz 1 =39lbs
    Fitz2 = 47lbs
    Corbett1 =30lbs
    Corbettt2 =27lbs
    Choynski =52lbs!
    Finnnegan = 60lbs!
    Baker = 27lbs
    Aren't you the one always banging on about double standards?Lol

    The fact is we don't know what weight Langford conceded if he was 160lbs, as he well might have been, that would be 25lbs disparity would it not? I haven't made any excuses I just pointed out Johnson was comparatively green when he fought the 69 fight Choynski ,is that true or not? Johnson and Choynski were around the same weight, I never said Johnson had a size disadvantage ,just he had an experience disadvantage. What excuses have I made ? He never lost to the trio except the once against Jeannette on a disputed foul.You tried to say Johnson was prime when he fought Jeannette ,McVey and Langford and he wasn't.I obviously agree they weren't either ,but any improvement they made would be countered by his own would it not? You started with the Jeannette had just debuted ****,when I countered with Johnson beat him when Jeannette had 20 fights and was nearly27 years old you didn't reply!

    Langford was a very thick and compact man, comparable to an NFL running back with thick legs, a strong back and wide shoulders. Nothing about his build was average, so I would not compare him to average. I have his work out clips.

    So in other words Langford didn't beat anyone of weight prior to facing Johnson! Sam was a lower weight fighter starting out as a teenager. DUH. Asking a 20 year old with an estimated weight of 156 pounds to beat a more experienced fighter at heavyweight who has a 29-30 pound advantage is asking a lot.

    Jeanette had how many fights then? He was 8-6-1 and according to his own bio much lighter than Johnson.

    Langford was 140 pounds in December 1903 when he beat Joe Gans. He was small, light and young

    . Not 19 pounds. I see your trying to shift the focus to other fighters as usual when you are out gunned, I'm not playing that game or correcting you on the ages or math. Let's stick to the topic.

    But that's not an average for normal people, but for natural bodybuilders.
