mcvey... what page is this on? I got to say, I kind of agree. At least in so much as Wills would give Tunney a harder fight than he would Dempsey. Tho, if memory serves, Wills turned down a fight with Tunney.
Sorry S ,it's on page 14. All these Johnson threads are part of a serialized story that ran daily , for about a week in the second week in April, 1929, in the Saskatoon Star.

I think Dempsey would have had a good style to beat Wills (who was pretty stationary) I am not saying Wills could beat Tunney but his style would be less painful than J.D.
I'm curious if Johnson had a ghost writer for his autobiography. I often thought he had, partly because I found his writing style enjoyable and not overly cumbersome. However, his columns remind of that exact style. It's partly the anachronistic idioms I enjoy, but also the nice flow of sentences and thoughts, very easy and natural.
http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=147068 That should save some time if anyone is interested in this series which has some really awesome stuff from Johnson. Sorry but i didnt realise that there needed to be a page link for the first couple of links. It ran for about 3 weeks i think.
